National Trends & Services
The Chapter participated in the EA Food Bank Drive and collected over 1000 pounds of food for Smithfield at Brown AME church and in Suffolk at the Genieve shelter, February 2021.
Annual "GORed" activity for Heart Month donated forty-five (45) bags of healthy foods, dental packets, cards, puzzles, and toiletries to the tenants at the Covenant Place Apartments in Smithfield, VA.
Voter Registration Training, June-September, 2020; Census 2020 provides our chapter with an opportunity to help ensure everyone is counted. As civic minded women, we realize the impact of the Census and how important it is our communities. During National Night Out 2020, our members turned on their porch lights in our fight against crime and to show our solidarity in that we see members of public safety in a positive light, then kicked back and enjoyed a look back at the fun we’ve had during National Night Out in Suffolk over the years.
The National Trends and Services facet is tasked with eliminating disparities by reducing barriers to resources through advocacy, education, and service. Our chapters are empowered to raise their voices and transform the communities in which they work. The facet’s goals include increasing the number of sustainable and measurable programs; increasing collaborative partnerships; and extending our existing initiatives to include communities identified as having the greatest need.
